[edit] Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines (IATA Code: SQ) is the national airline for the island city-state of Singapore. They operate out of Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 at Singapore/Changi (SIN) airport. Low-cost carrier Silk Air is also based in Singapore and is controlled by Singapore Airlines.

Singapore Airlines has won many awards over the years as 'The World's Best Airline'. While some might debate that now, with the rise of Emirates, their in-flight service is justifiably famous. Even their Economy Class in-flight service is outstanding, although the Economy seats are smaller and less comfortable than Business Class (formerly called Raffles Class), First Class, or (on the Airbus 380 only) Suite Class.

Singapore Airlines competes aggressively on the Kangaroo Route between the UK and Australia. Other major airlines on that route include British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, and Qantas.

Singapore Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance.

[edit] Kris Flyer Programe

Singapore Airlines offers the Kris Flyer frequent flyer programme.

In the past, it was possible to earn lifetime status in this programme. However, the rules were changed recently so that no new lifetime status memberships can be earned.

[edit] Silver Kris Lounges

Singapore Airlines has Silver Kris airport lounges in several major airports, along with contract lounge arrangements in smaller destinations (e.g. Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon (SGN)).

  • Most of the Silver Kris lounges are also Star Alliance Gold lounges, with the major exception of Singapore Airport.
  • The Silver Kris lounges in Singapore are NOT Star Alliance Gold lounges, so Star Alliance Gold flyers do not get access.
