[edit] How to redeem

You can book your Honors awards on-line. Pick the hotel you want and on the left you will have a choice of a paid reservation or an award reservation. Pick award reservation and you can immediately make a reservation. If an award room is not available you can still try calling the Honors number or even the hotel directly. If you are a Diamond then you are pretty much gauranteed a room. Other members have also reported good luck booking an award even when not available on the website.

In addition, award reservations and award certificates (the 'payment' you use for award stays) are separate. Therefore, it's possible to make an award reservation to lock in the res even if you don't have enough points for the award - just make sure that you get the certificate issued before your stay. However, these transactions can't be completed online, you'll have to call the service centre for them.

[edit] How long it takes

Most awards are processed immediatly. Some international awards and Diamond special arrangement awards may take 1-3 days to finalize. If you are wanting an international award for specific dates request them as soon as you can.

[edit] Where tickets are issued

Mailed to member's address on file. Most requests and confirmations are e-mailed.

[edit] Expedited Award Delivery

Expedited delivery: Call, fax, email or write to the service center. Allow five business days from the date the service center receives express award request. Outside the U.S. allow 7-10 business days. Some flight awards cannot be expedited. There is a US$25 fee for U.S. delivery. For members living outside the 48 contiguous states or Puerto Rico, the fee for expedited delivery is a minimum of US$50.

[edit] Transferability of Awards

Awards may be issued to anyone the member designates when requesting award certificate. Once issued, award certificates are not transferable.

[edit] Cancelling an award.

Most awards have a time period that they must be cancelled by. This depends on the hotel but should be stated when making the reservation. If the award is not cancelled by the appropriate time then usually one nights room and tax will be charged to your credit card on file.

[edit] Changing an Award

Changing destination: Call the airline reservation desk to change award destination. Changing award level: Return the unexpired award certificate to the service center and request a change in award level. If award to be changed is part of an award package, all certificates included in the package must be returned. There is no fee for Gold and Diamond VIP members; a US$25 fee applies for all other members. Redepositing points: Return unexpired point certificate to the service center. There is no fee.
