Enroll online for an instant membership number or at the front desk of any participating Hilton, Conrad, Doubletree, Embassy Suites Hotels, Hampton Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites, Homewood Suites by Hilton or Scandic hotels; mail or fax application to the service center; or call reservations.

[edit] Membership Restrictions
Accounts with no activity for 12 consecutive months may be closed. When account is subject to closure, the member may reactivate the account by taking one of the following actions:
- a) Stay at a participating HHonors Hotel, thus reactivating membership.
- b) Use the Hilton HHonors Platinum Credit Card from American Express, the Hilton HHonors Signature Visa Card from Citibank or the Hilton HHonors Visa Signature Card from Sumitomo Mitsui Card, Co. Ltd.
- c) Request any award for which the member is eligible.
Failure to reactivate account will result in the closure of the member's account and the forfeiture of all accumulated points.
[edit] Hotel Stay Point Accrual
- Hilton, Conrad, Doubletree, Embassy Suites and Hilton Garden Inn (participating only) - Earn 10 points per eligible US$1 charged to a room, including telephone and room service charges.
- Hampton Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites and Homewood Suites by Hilton - Earn 10 points per US$1 spent on room rate only for eligible rate stays.
- Scandic Hotels - Earn 1,000 points per night for eligible rate stays.
Eligible rate stays are stays at all rates except wholesale/tour operator packages, contracted airline crew rates, complimentary or barter rooms, stays on NET Group, Series Group or IT Group rates, contracted Entertainment or Encore rates, stays using airline percent-off award certificates or stays booked via Priceline.com, Hotwire.com or similar booking channels where the hotel brand is unknown at time of purchase. Members may earn point credit for up to two rooms per stay, if all eligible charges for both rooms are paid on one folio. Point credit will be earned for all eligible bill charges incurred on both rooms. Bonuses issued on points or total bill charges, including tier bonuses and double- or triple-point promotions, will apply to the total point credit earned or folio charges incurred for both rooms. For any other bonuses, including HHonors partner bonus points and other promotional bonuses, bonus points will be awarded on one room only. Members will receive only one stay credit, including credit towards elite-level status, and only one mileage credit will be earned.

Earn 250 points by presenting a valid car rental agreement or keys for a rental with National or Thrifty in conjunction with a stay. Earn 250 points per rental with Sixt and Avis; a stay in conjunction is not required.
[edit] Affinity Credit Card Point Accrual
Note that all points earned from credit cards are "bonus" points, and do not count toward status.
Hilton HHonors Platinum Credit Card from American Express: Earn three points per eligible US$1 charged or five points per eligible US$1 charged at HHonors hotels. Certain categories of merchants are also eligible for the 5pt/$ rate (e.g., restaurants, gas stations). Confusingly, only 3 points/dollar show up on your monthly statement for charges made during that statement period; the extra 2 points for Hilton stays and other eligible transactions appear on the next month's statement. The point system is very difficult to audit.
The standard signup offer gives 10,000 bonus points upon first purchase with the card, but there are frequent offers for 15,000 points on first purchase. The Amex card also gives 2,500 points for each of the first four stays paid on the card. Also, you get 500 bonus points for booking online, securing with the Amex card, and paying with that card.
You also receive Silver VIP status for your first year of card membership. There is an undocumented Gold challenge, if you make four stays within the first two months.
Hilton HHonors Visa Signature Card from Citibank:
Earn two points per eligible US$1 charged or three points per eligible US$1 charged at HHonors hotels. Earn 10,000 points upon first purchase with the card. You also receive Silver VIP status for your first year of card membership.
American Express Membership Rewards:
Convert Membership Rewards points into HHonors points: 1,000 Membership Rewards points = 1,300 HHonors points (for members in the U.S., for other country exchange rates visit Web site).
At one time, 1,000 MR points could be converted into 2,000 HHonors points through Hawaiian Airlines, but it appears that Hawaiian no longer allows the conversion.
Diners Club: Convert Club Rewards points into HHonors points: 2,500 Club Rewards points = 2,000 HHonors points.

HHonors Mutual Fund: Spouses who are both members of HHonors can combine points for award redemption or VIP qualification. To participate, send copy of marriage certificate along with letter requesting point combination to the service center. HHonors Mutual Fund accounts are available only to couples legally married.
As of April 1, 2005, new Mutual Fund accounts may not be started. Existing Mutual Fund memberships still enjoy the Mutual Fund benefit.

Members may purchase up to 20,000 points online per calendar year to be used for any award. Points may be purchased in 1,000-point increments at a cost of US$12.50 per 1,000 points.
