[edit] Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
LAX is a UA hub.
[edit] General Information
[edit] Check-in
- UA check-in is located in between 7 and 8.
- Premium check in for UA (elite and C/F) is at Terminal 6. This also provides access to the elite security line (which deposit you at the Terminal 7 security checkpoint along with the longer non-elite security line that is in Terminal 7).
[edit] Flights
- UA flights at LAX leave out of Terminals 6, 7, and 8. United Express flights (and only United Express flights) currently leave out of Terminal 8. Most Other UA flights are out of Terminal 7 with a few out of Terminal 6 which is shared with CO and DL.
Note: Terminal 6 may be problematic for those PAX needing additional assistance getting to/from the gate: The carts that take passengers needing assitance will rarely go into terminal 6 at all, and cannot go more than about halfway to the end.
[edit] Red Carpet Club
There is one RCC, it is located in Terminal 7 near gate 70A.
[edit] Easy Check-in
- LAX has Easy Check-ins landside in the ticketing area.
- There are also Easy Check-ins airside on in terminal 7 (between 71A/B) and terminal 8 (near gate 81).
[edit] Other Amenities
- Terminal 6 has a smoking area. It is an outdoor patio overlooking the C7 ramp (between Terminals 6 and 7). It allows a good view of some ramp operations and ironically is a good place to go for some fresh air (or what passes for it in LA) without leaving the sterile area. When lighters were not permitted airside this was an interesting place to see how ineffective the TSA was at keeping them out (and how many TSA employees would smuggle their own lighters airside).
- Terminal 6 also hosts the CO lounge. There have been reports of free internet access being accessable immediately outside of this lounge.
FYI: Terminal 6 Smoking Area is now completely closed. There is no longer access outside.
