[edit] Hotel Stay Point Accrual
Earn 10 points per US$1 charged to member's room at Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites; Courtyard by Marriott (room rate only); Fairfield Inn by Marriott (room rate only); Renaissance Hotels, Resorts and Suites; participating Marriott Vacation Club International resorts; SpringHill Suites by Marriott (room rate only) and participating Marriott Conference Centers. Earn five points per US$1 spent at TownePlace Suites by Marriott (room rate only) and Residence Inn by Marriott (room rate only). Eligible charges for stays at full-service hotels worldwide include accommodations, restaurant, lounge and room service, incidental personal charges and service charges. No points are earned on hotel award stays. Earn points for up to two additional rooms reserved and registered in member's name, provided member pays for them on a consolidated bill. Earn 1,000 points per night for stays in Hotel New Otani Tokyo, Hotel New Otani Hakata and Hotel New Otani Makuhari. Extended stays at ExecuStay by Marriott earn 2.5 points per US$1 spent on all qualifying charges and Marriott Executive Apartments earn variable monthly bonuses. Catering, banquet functions and tax charges do not qualify to earn points. Point accrual is limited to individual travel. If member attends a convention or group meeting and individually pays, member will earn points for the stay. Contract rooms (rooms reserved by corporations on an ongoing basis) are not eligible to earn points. Points earned from room contracts or military rates at certain overseas locations are subject to local restrictions and may be ineligible for credit in the Marriott Rewards program. Members may not earn points for purchases on award stays at Concorde Hotels, Hotel New Otani or St. Andrews Old Course Hotels.

Points may be pooled between spouse's accounts. Prior to redemption, members may authorize the transfer of the necessary number of points into their spouse's account in order to qualify for a specific award.

Members with point balances near an award threshold are able to purchase points to add to their remaining balance and redeem them for awards. Members may purchase up to 10% of the required points for award redemption. The cost is US$10 per 1,000 points.
