[edit] Hotel Stay Point Accrual

Earn two points per eligible US$1 spent at participating Westin Hotels & Resorts, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, Four Points by Sheraton, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, The Luxury Collection or W Hotels. Elite-level members earn three points per eligible US$1 spent. Eligible charges include room rate, restaurant or room service charges, telephone calls, laundry/valet charges, in-room faxes and in-room movies/video games. Points cannot be accrued for charges that are master billed or earned for complimentary, barter, discount coupon or award stays. Members who are registered guests may receive points for up to three rooms if all are registered in the member's name, one room is occupied by member and all room charges are settled by the member upon checkout. Members do not earn points for the portion of a stay in excess of 30 consecutive days. Additional points will not be given if member checks out and registers again to avoid the 30-day limit.

Preferred Guest member needs to contact Starwood customer service to arrange for direct deposit of miles into frequent flyer account.

An advantage for Continental and United miles earners is the earning ratio is based on 1 Starpoint = 1 mile. A person earning 200 Starpoints for a $100 hotel room rate will receive 200 United miles for the stay. This is a better rate than transferring Starpoints to Continental or United frequent flier miles where 2 Starpoints = 1 mile.

[edit] Car Rental Point Accrual

Earn 50 points per day per qualifying car rental with Avis or 250 points per eligible rental with Sixt. A flight in conjunction is not required.

[edit] Affinity Credit Card Point Accrual

Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express: Earn one point per US$1 charged and two points for every US$1 charged at participating Starwood hotels.

Elite-level members earn an additional three points per US$1 spent at participating Starwood hotels.

American Express: Convert Membership Rewards into Starpoints: 1,000 Membership Rewards points = 333 Starpoints. Membership Rewards members can convert their Membership Rewards points to Starpoints if member has a qualifying stay at a Starwood property during the previous 12 months.

Diners Club: Convert Club Rewards points into Starpoints: 1,250 Club Rewards points = 750 Starpoints.

There is also the Starwood Preferred Guest MBNA Credit Card for Canadian members of the program. More details will follow shortly.

1-800-FLOWERS and SPG have formed a partnership to give SPG members an opportunity to earn additional Starpoints while not staying at one of our properties. Eligible flower purchases and other products can be purchased over the phone or online.

Earning Starpoints •Members must present their SPG number when purchasing eligible products. •Members receive 10 Starpoints for every eligible $1 USD. •Starpoints post within 6-8 weeks after purchase.

Missing Starpoints Wait the appropriate time after an eligible purchase, then call the Starwood Preferred Guest Customer Contact Center and request follow-up.

BostonCoach and SPG have formed a partnership to give SPG members an opportunity to earn additional Starpoints while not staying at one of our properties. Eligible services can be arranged through BostonCoach.

Earning Starpoints •Members must present their SPG number when purchasing eligible services. •Members can earn 250 Starpoints for a qualifying service. •BostonCoach will credit Starpoints 8-12 weeks after the completion of a qualifying service.

Two members residing at the same address may combine points for award redemption. Members should have a minimum of 2,000 points or 1,500 minimum points for elite-level members. To combine points, send a letter signed by both members to the service center authorizing the transfer.

Members may purchase up to 20,000 Starpoints per calendar year for US$35 per 1,000 points. Points may also be purchased as gifts, but no more than 20,000 points may be purchased for a single account per calendar year, whether self-purchased or gifted.

Mail a copy of receipt to the service center, email request via the Web site or call the service center within six months of stay. Sometimes SPG will credit past stays up to 1 year after check out date as a gesture of goodwill, but none any older than this - ever.
