The easiest way to do this is to preface or suffix your entry with either four tildes (i.e. ~~~~). For example, this entry is prefaced by four tildes. Or, just sign manually. Thanks for your consideration.
Moved from the main page: (Question: would it be useful to continue to each of the tables to the right with a set of cells that show, in another color, desert-parked aircraft / those that are put out of service temporarily the next few months, as in the related flyertalk thread?) (Answer: no. If a plane is taken out of service, it should be removed from this page. If someone wants to keep track of grounded airplanes, they should create a new page.)
Watching FlightTracker on 9/9/2008 - UAL9831 (B772) KIAD to KGSO, could this possibly be the first UA777 to undergo cabin upgrades? Answer No, 777 will not begin until about Sep 2009.
Gfowler Should we include a link to the UA Suite Dreams (http://suitedreams.united.com) page? I have second thoughts as it seems to gobble up 100% CPU. Do others see this?
Cepheid 19:54, 22 October 2008 (MDT): For archival purposes, I would recommend putting the "in service" date on each new conversion, so that we know when that particular plane came back into service after conversion. Once all planes are configured, this page will otherwise be useless, so it would be good to have an archival record of when each plane went into reconfiguration and when it came back into service, so that this page won't be totally useless. =)
Gfowler I entered this info beginning with N174UA.
Cepheid 01:08, 10 November 2008 (MST): Gene, thanks. We should try to dig up the historic info on completed airframes, too, if possible.
mahasamatman 21 November 14:20 PST: According to http://flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=759878, post 387, N180UA was completed months ago. I will mark it complete.
Cepheid 19:37, 15 December 2008 (MST): Is there any reason why we have the "last updated by" on the page? The entire edit history of the page is fully visible, so I'm not sure that this is really necessary info.
I agree with cephid - not sure there's a need to put "updated" on the page. Bmvaughn 12:21, 17 December 2008 (MST)
Mahasamatman 10:49, 28 January 2009 (MST) Because most people (90%+) will not click on the "history" tab and like to know how current the information is. Also, MediaWiki handles do not necessarily map to FT handles, so there's no knowing who really made a change at any time. And minor edits are tracked but are irrelevant to most people.
Latitudes 17:16, 31 January 2009 (MST) I'd like to query the calculation for the 747-400 section. The page states 58.3% of 747s are converted, but it should be 51.9%. The problem arises because the total number of 747s in United's fleet is 27, not 24 as stated on the page. Count them yourself: there are three rows of nine columns.
Latitudes 17:28, 31 January 2009 (MST) I just realized that this will also affect the total number of conversions. Total number of United aircraft should be 94 and the total percentage should be 31.9%.
Cepheid 17:52, 31 January 2009 (MST): As noted directly under the 747 table, the count of 24 is because UA stated they would ground 3 more 747s over the next year. Those groundings have not yet happened, so perhaps the count should be at 27 until they do, but nevertheless the reasoning behind the count of 24 is explicitly stated on the page.
CollegeFlyer 08:31, 15 September 2009 (MDT): What happened to N194UA? It was previously listed in a comment by mahatsaman as being expected to be retired, but is now gone from the table, and is also not listed in the comments below the table which list the aircraft that actually were retired, and retirement date.
Bmvaughn 11:55, 22 September 2009 (MDT) Updated the notes to reflect that it was parked on 8/25
[edit] 747 Retrofit Picture
Rwk32882 18:26, 8 April 2009 (MDT) By the way, here is a nice pic of N178UA in the shop being retrofitted ( http://www.airliners.net/photo/United-Airlines/Boeing-747-422/1509601 ). I'm not sure what the TOS are relating to posting an airliners.net picture here so I won't post it myself but if anyone else is familiar it would make for a nice illustration.
[edit] Break out 777s into each sub-fleet?
Wondering whether we should break out the 777s into each sub-fleet of XC/XI/XP? This information is useful since certain planes fly specific routes. Bmvaughn 12:27, 24 January 2010 (MST)
